Pierre Rouanet
Graduated from the image, audio, and virtual reality computer science master, from the University of Bordeaux, Pierre Rouanet followed a specialization in Human computer interaction who naturally lead him to robotics. He completed his thesis in the Flowers team at INRIA Bordeaux which he joined in 2008 and where he worked on human-robot interaction. Pure product of the Bordeaux academic system, his research has been valued by many international scientific publications in the fields of robotics, human-robot interaction and human-machine interfaces. He is also the co-author of a patent. With 8 years experience within an internationally renowned robotics research teams, he is an expert in User-centered design in robotics. He later worked for the realization of robotic learning demonstrators in the PSPC project future investment Romeo 2.
It was during his scientific collaboration with Matthieu Lapeyre he designed all the software of the Poppy universe. Due to his great knowledge and involvement in the world of open-source software development he was able to make the choices for the rapid establishment of a community of contributors as well as ensure the sustainable expansion of the Poppy project. He is part of the project coordinators of Poppy Education where he worked in partnership with the Aquitaine region in the dissemination and use of the Ergo Jr platform in ten schools. He co-organized the robotics and education symposium in Bordeaux involving more than 200 participants. He also participated in many international events and exhibitions to disseminate and enhance the Poppy Project: ICT, Innorobo, or Frenchtech meeting at the Elysee.
